In Memoriam: James Quisenberry

We are saddened to announce the death, on August 10, 2007, of James D. Quisenberry. Jim was a longtime and active member of ACEI. After serving in the Army, including tours of duty in Germany and Vietnam, Jim attended Indiana State University, receiving a B.A. and an M.A. in English education. He taught language arts for two years at Speedway High School, in Speedway, Indiana. Then, he and his wife Nancy moved to Germany, where they taught at the American Dependents School in Baumholder. Upon returning to Indiana, Jim continued to teach high school until May 1967. He also worked summers as a naturalist at Brown County State Park. Relocating to Bloomington, Indiana, Jim furthered his education at Indiana University, receiving his doctorate in English education and linguistics in 1972. Joining the faculty of Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) in 1971, Jim taught language arts and children's literature there for 15 years. In 1989, Jim took the position of Director of International Programs and Services, receiving multiple recognitions from international student organizations. …
