Our broken health care system cannot be fixed with mere band-aid solutions. Over 50 million Americans remain uninsured, health care expenses are bankrupting the country, and employers are eliminating their health plans because they, too, can't afford health insurance. Because these crises are interconnected, it is essential that a progressive, comprehensive solution be put forth to fix our health care system. My Healthcare Security System does just that by replacing employer-based health care systems, providing standard coverage, and allowing Medicare and Medicaid to expire over time.

My health care plan provides every American with an annual health care certificate that can be used to purchase a health care service plan from a limited number of private health insurance providers, or select the government's service plan. These certificates will be individually designed in order to guarantee that those with higher expected health care costs, such as the poor and the elderly, receive higher value certificates. No one will be denied health care services due to a pre-existing medical condition, and insurance providers will not be permitted to "lemon drop" people who have selected their plan. Private insurance providers will only compete for clients based upon administrative costs and efficiencies. …
