Best Associate Editor Awards-2007; the Editors Are Pleased to Announce the Following Recipients of the Journal of Supply Chain Management's 2007 Best Associate Editor Award

The selection of Stan, Tom, and Frank was a difficult process, as process, as there were many outstanding Associate Editors (AEs) who contributed their time and insights to the Journal. Our criteria were based on the AEs' integration of reviewers' comments, depth of the AE review, rapport established with the authors and timeliness.

We began our evaluation by creating a shortlist of AEs based on these criteria. All of the AEs on this shortlist submitted their reviews on time, or early, since first and foremost a good review is one that is on time. All of the AEs on this shortlist had also made the effort to establish a constructive and positive rapport in writing their reviews. They provided major as well as specific comments for improving the paper. In further evaluating these reviews, we found that Stan, Tom and Frank provided great depth in their comments. They often suggested concrete means by which the authors could address their individual concerns, as well as the concerns of the reviewers who had also reviewed the paper. They effectively synthesized reviewers' concerns, helped authors to focus on the most relevant and important reviewer comments, and acted as referees in cases of conflicting comments or suggestions from reviewers. …
