Victor A. Yanchick, PhD

President, AACP

The new President of American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) is Victor (Vic) A. Yanchick, PhD, Dean and Professor at the School of Pharmacy, Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University. He received a BS and MS in Pharmacy from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, and also completed a pharmacy residency at the University Hospital in Iowa City. He then received a PhD in pharmacy from Purdue University.

Vic has served as a faculty member and academic administrator at 3 universities: The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Oklahoma, and his current University. He has been Dean at MCV since 1996. During his career he has had wide-ranging interests in the profession including issues with drug use in the elderly, drug interactions and adverse drug effects, and in pharmacy education. He has guided his colleges through a time of rapid change in pharmacy education with a personal commitment to improve patient care through advances and innovation in pharmacy education.

Vic has served the profession for many years with active participation in AACP, the American Pharmacists Association, the National Community Pharmacists Association, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, and other organizations. He has been active in AACP throughout his career, serving as chair of the Council of Deans and on many AACP committees. …
