Are You an Emerging Leader of Education?

Nominate yourself or a colleague to be recognized as an Emerging Leader by Phi Delta Kappa.

This unique program recognizes young educators from around the world for their leadership, particularly relative to PDK's tenets: service, research, and leadership. The award winners are selected from a competitive class of applicants based on their outstanding professional accomplishments.

Any PDK member in good standing who is age 40 or younger at the time of application is eligible to apply. Applications include responses to a general information form and short-answer questions. Applicants must also submit a curriculum vita and three letters of recommendation that support the responses to the short-answer questions. A panel of past Emerging Leaders reviews the applications.

* The deadline for applications for the Class of 2009-10 Emerging Leaders is March 6, 2009.

"Beyond the recognition they receive for their career successes, we've learned that the Emerging Leaders most value the opportunity to meet and network with other educators who share their passion for this work. That may be the most significant feature of bringing together this group of dynamic young educators," said Amy Kemp, director for leadership development and chapter services.

The 2009-10 Emerging Leaders will be announced in May 2009. The new Emerging Leaders will be recognized in Kappan magazine and honored at the 2009 PDK Summit in Indianapolis, Ind., in October 2009. Emerging Leaders will receive a travel stipend to attend the summit and also will be invited to join other PDK initiatives. …
