As we prepared the final pieces of this issue, we were encouraged to receive the shiny purple issue of Literacy Learning: the Middle Years (volume 16, no. 2) that arrived recently, marking the first issue prepared by our Editorial Team. This new collaborative venture adds to the many projects we've taken on as a team over the past almost ten years, and we've found it to be an exciting and enriching experience so far. We are sure we will continue to look forward to the arrival of future shiny purple issues over the next few years, and hope that the same can be said for our readers.

We'd like to encourage all of our readers to provide feedback and opinions on the Journal, and of course we also encourage you all to consider submitting an article, short commentary, practical strategies paper or review for our consideration (see the Call for Papers and Notes to Authors in this issue).

Robyn Henderson is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland, where she teaches in literacy courses and supervises numerous doctoral students. She is also co-organiser of a very successful First Year Experience program which is helping first year students make a successful transition into university study. Her research interests include multiliteracies, academic and digital literacies, and the implications of mobility on school-based literacy learning. …
