Maternal and Child Health Bureau -- MCHB

The Maternal and Child Health Bureau is a branch of the Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and its primary responsibility is to promote and improve the health of the nation's mothers and children. As part of this responsibility, this MCHB site links to grant assistance, newsletters and publications, MCHB fact sheets, and federal register notices.

The Merck Manual

The Merck Company has provided an online version of the classic Merck Manual describing symptoms, common clinical procedures, laboratory tests, and most disorders a health practitioner might encounter. It features an online full-text search device for the entire manual.

National Network for Child Care -- NNCC

National Network for Child Care, part of the nationwide cooperative extension dissemination system, hopes to increase and strengthen the quality of nonparental care environments. Available at this site is research, resources, and best practices. All documents posted in the NNCC database are reviewed and evaluated for quality and accuracy.

Pediatric Database -- PEDBASE


A database of over 500 childhood diseases and disorders, PEDBASE is available online or may be downloaded as shareware. It includes illness definitions, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, and management. The information provided in the database was compiled from reliable sources, including the Nelson textbook of pediatrics and the Birth Defects Encyclopedia.
