The Emotional Intelligence Quick ok by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves is a brief summary of the definitions, research, and benefits of emotional intelligence. The book is a product of the authors' years of teaching this topic in the classroom. So, it is written from the perspective of a practitioner using easy-to-understand language and analogy to explain the theory to an audience new to the topic.

The authors begin the book with a quick biological view of emotional intelligence, and they overview the history of the theory of emotional intelligence. They quickly establish the four main themes of emotional intelligence around which the book centers--self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. A self test is provided to the reader by the authors. The authors use the assessment to emphasize one of the foundations of the book: emotional intelligence can be improved.
