In my last message to you, I shared an exciting ACEI action initiative-to build a preschool in Tanzania, provide in-service support from interested ACEI members who wish to travel and/or provide support in other ways, and to provide a rare opportunity to learn from our international colleagues (both teachers and children) in that African nation. I cannot begin to tell you how well-received this project has been. In light of this, your

Executive Board approved a motion to provide up to $5,000 in matching contributions from our International Development Fund to build this facility. If each of our members contributed 50 cents, we would have a combined total of $10,000 to begin construction. We have estimated that $15,000 would provide a fully equipped ACEI facility. Clearly, with even more funds, we could greatly expand our vision for this project.

With this letter, I am asking each member to do whatever you can to assist in raising funds for this school. At this holiday time, for example, we might forgo giving a gift to a friend/loved one and instead take the amount you would have spent and donate it to this action project. A thank-you card from ACEI in the name you choose will be provided for your donation. I am also asking each committee and ACEI chapter to think about ways/sources for raising funds for this venture. Emerging educators, who have been very creative in supporting a variety of activities in support of our mission, might use their resources over the next year or two to help with this life-changing venture. …
