Project Highlights

* Challenge was to make an historical building fully accessible, seismically secure, with contemporary standards for teaching, rehearsal, performances and administration on a limited budget.

* The renovation successfully incorporates new power, electronic systems and controls while seamlessly coexisting within an historic setting.

* Alternative code compliance solutions were achieved such as retaining historic handrails and adding new code-compliant handrails to one side.

* Other accessibility improvements were made invisible by seamlessly blending the new walkways, planter walls railings, stone steps and terrace with the historic landscape.

* The preservation and restoration of historic architectural features demonstrates respect for the cultural value of art and architecture within the campus and community. …
