As James King says in his column "Spring is here" and as I am writing this column the sun is shining for the first time in two weeks in North Dakota! Of course with Spring comes melting snow for us, but it also brings flooding. The sand bagging has already begun! Enough about the weather, as we could still get more snow in April.

It is with great sadness that I must write about the loss of a great friend and supporter of ATEA. As you notice on page 1 of this issue of the ATEA Journal it is dedicated to the memory of Jean Koch. Jean was the Dean, School of Business, Ivy Tech Community College at Kokomo, Ind. and she was also the immediate past president of ATEA. A few of her many accomplishments are noted on page 1. She was a true professional, a wonderful colleague and a best friend!

Here are just a few of the many comments I received after Jean passed away.

"I am truly saddened at the news of the loss of someone who so faithfully placed students first by her perspective and example. Jean believed in what she was doing and was a driving spirit in ATEA. She will be sorely missed."

"She was one of the finest ladies I've ever known."
