Jacqueline Blackwell, former President of ACEI, and a loyal member for more than 35 years, was presented with the prestigious Patty Smith Hill Award at the 2010 ACEI Annual International Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The Patty Smith Hill Award is the Association's highest honor and recognizes an outstanding long-term member who has demonstrated a deep commitment to improving children's education and fulfilling ACEI's goals.

Blackwell is Associate Professor of Early Childhood and Elementary Education in the School of Education at Indiana University Purdue University--Indianapolis (IUPUI). Since beginning her career as a teacher, Blackwell has sought to advance her skills and knowledge and share her expertise with others in the field of education. She also has served as a private school administrator and consultant.

She became active with ACEI in Indiana and gradually expanded her service to include representing ACEI on the national and international levels. Blackwell served as the Vice President Representing Infancy/Early Childhood (1996-99), and has held positions on several ACEI committees. …
