"I would urge upon you the necessity of bringing before the legislature of this province the extreme desirability of their taking immediate steps to preserve for the people of this province the buildings known as Fort Edmonton." This appeal, culled from the magnificent address of the president of the Women's Canadian Club, Mrs. Arthur Murphy, and the motion to that effect afterwards carried unanimously by the members, were the outstanding features of the annual meeting of the club, held yesterday afternoon in the school room of All Saints' Church.

She added later in her report, "The property was purchased from the Hudson's Bay Company. These buildings have been used by the Department of Public Works for storage and office purposes, but now that the new parliament buildings have been opened there no longer exists any valid reason why the fort should not be restored and kept as a memorial of the days when it was known as the 'Last House of the World.'

"To have looked over the old building which, owning to the decay of its logs, is rapidly falling into ruinous condition, would suggest that these logs be replaced by others or that all the buildings be taken down and rebuilt in exactly the same manner and in the same dimensions using, where possible, the original materials. …
