The IRI Achievement Award, established in 1973, is presented each year to honor outstanding accomplishment in individual creativity and innovation that contributes broadly to the development of industry and the benefit of society.

The 2010 Achievement Award was presented to Linden S. Blue

* For his' contributions in the development of the Predator family of unmanned aerial vehicles, which ushered in a new and effective military strategy to protect the security of our society while eliminating risk to airmen;

* For his furthering of advanced energy research, nurturing promising technologies and integrating them into new business areas; and

* For inspiring future generations of innovators and entrepreneurs.

Linden S. Blue is vice chairman of General Atomics (GA), a diversified, international high-technology company with world leadership positions in fusion, fission, and isotope nuclear reactors; high-power electromagnets and lasers; and unpiloted air systems. Mr. Blue's primary responsibilities at GA have included development of the advanced second-generation modular helium reactor; coordination of activities in GA's Washington, DC, office; and oversight of GA's activities at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. …
