Welcome to Volume 35, Number 2, of the American Educational History Journal. As usual, this Issue includes papers on a variety of topics, which means that just about everyone should find something of interest. Whether your interests are in African American schooling, Mexican American schooling, education in the Middle East, schools in Texas, or the educational philosophy of Ralph Waldo Emerson, this Number has something for you.

Number 2 also includes a book review. I plan to include additional book reviews in future Volumes of AEHJ, so please let me know if you are interested in writing one of these reviews. Please also send along recently published books that you would like to see reviewed in AEHJ.

Last but not least, I want to dedicate a few words to the contributions by Dr. Robert J. Taggart to the field of educational history. Bob has been a dedicated participant at the annual conferences of MHES for many years. He attended his first MHES conference in 1985, and later served as President of the Society from 2001-2002. Bob has been a frequent, consistent contributor to our Journal as well. …
