It is our pleasure to present to you this issue of The Ahfad Journal, hoping that you find it enjoyable and intellectually useful.

The first article deals with gender inequality in Turkey applying the "Having, loving and being" model. The paper examines gender inequalities from this perspective using some relevant indices. The paper concludes that the majority of women in Turkey have no equal advantage to access to material as well as non- material aspects, compared to men.

The second article delves into a historical epoch of the colonial period in the Benue Province in Nigeria, and examines gender aspects in the commission of crime within that period. The paper highlights that the propensity of women's involvement in crime is influenced by the sociocultural conditions in these societies, which have provided a chance for collaboration in the maintenance of the anonymity of female criminals through lack of \underreporting, investigation and thus prosecution.

The third article also takes a historical stance and discusses the Native Marriage Laws in Southern Rhodesia, especially among the Shona community. The paper emphasizes the cultural disruption of the Shona community ordinances by the colonial British Laws, and concludes that the Native Marriage Ordinances have fully undermined the local Shona culture. …
