IRI Announces New Research-on-Research Working Groups

The Industrial Research Institute has announced the inception of four new Research-on-Research (ROR) Working Groups. These groups result directly from mind maps generated during an extensive group brainstorm at IRI's 2011 Xchange meeting in Coral Gables, Florida.

IRI's ROR program focuses on determining best practices for the effective management of R&D by assembling industry leaders to collaborate in volunteer working groups. The Research-on-Research committee is IRI's "laboratory for innovation management." ROR participants share their experiences and research case studies to produce leading-edge research that provides a broader and more diverse perspective on practices to enhance the effectiveness of innovation.

The new groups, which met for the first time at IRI's Annual Meeting, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in May, will focus on a range of timely issues for innovation managers and their organizations.

Accelerating Implementation: Beyond Stage-Gate[R] will study processes that promise to improve upon StageGate[R] systems, offering faster, more efficient paths from proof of concept to commercialization. The group will look at spiral development, technology readiness levels, and other tools.

Global Innovation Networks will examine how to identify and establish successful innovation networks.

Social Networking in Business Today has three goals: to identify the business value of social networking, to identify who within the enterprise is relevant for, and to define the risks of social networking--and the risks of not having social networks. …
