The one-hundredth annual meeting of the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study was held in Seattle, Washington 22-24 April 2010 and hosted by the University of Washington's Department of Scandinavian. This meeting was held jointly with the American Association of Baltic Studies (AABS)

The Executive Council of the society met on Thursday, April 22. The membership meeting was held at 4:30 pm the next day, April 23. President Jason Lavery presided over both meetings. In a report on die conference to the Executive Council Professor Terje Leiren from the University of Washington stated that conference registration peaked at 411 for die joint conference, with 283 from sass and 127 from AABS. Due to the eruption of the volcano in Iceland, there were 91 cancellations by the time of the Executive Council meeting (58 sass; 33 AABS).

At die membership meeting, a resolution was unanimously approved thanking the Scandinavian Department of the University of Washington for its excellence in hosting die meeting under very difficult conditions. Terje Leiren, Ann-Charlotte Gavel-Adams, Christine Ingebritsen, and Debbie Mercer were cited for special recognition.

President Jason Lavery and Secretary-Treasurer Richard Jensen attended the annual conference of the American Council of Learned Societies on behalf of sass in Philadelphia in May 2009. …
