INTRODUCTION

Thirteen/WNET (www.thirteen.org) consistently provides high quality materials for educators. With WIDE ANGLE: WINDOW INTO GLOBAL HISTORY, teachers now have a first-rate resource to enhance high school instruction in Global History and Geography, and Advanced Placement World History. This educational initiative from the Thirteen/WNET, offers standards-based materials that can be used by teachers to supplement their social studies curricula. This brief article describes the program resources and suggests benefits to students and educators.

WIDE ANGLE: WINDOW INTO GLOBAL HISTORY

WIDE ANGLE: WINDOW INTO GLOBAL HISTORY is an educational initiative grounded in the award-winning Public Broadcasting series, WIDE ANGLE. Using video materials from the series, teachers will be able to use selected segments from modern documentaries to explore themes and content in particular contexts to enhance instruction. WIDE ANGLE provides compelling footage with which to motivate students. In addition, the initiative provides lesson plans with links to websites for further concentration and study.
