"An Evening to Honor Leonard Gross"--The annual Mennonite Historical Society spring banquet/fund raiser will take place on Thursday, May 26 at 6:00 p/m/ at Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship, Goshen, Indiana (S25/suggested contribution). The program will celebrate the 80th birthday of Leonard Gross --renowned scholar of the Hutterites, gifted translator, and long-time archivist and director of the Historical Committee of the Mennonite Church. Conference: Anabaptist Historical Colloquium--"The 300th Anniversary of the Great Bern Anabaptist Exodus of 1711," September 1-2, 2011, Ausbildungs- und Tagungszentrum Bienenberg / Liestal (Education- and Conference Center Bienenberg at Liestal, Switzerland). The years 1710-1711 marked a significant cornerstone in the history of Anabaptism in Switzerland with repercussions also for Mennonites in France, Germany/ the Low7 Countries and North America: the deportation of more than 350 Anabaptists, many of whom settled in the Alsace, the Kraichgau, the Palatinate, or the Low Countries, while others dared to return to their homes in Switzerland. …
