The Cataloguing Commission hosted one session at the conference in Dublin, which was called Implementing Standards in Cataloguing Music. The first part of the session was on RDA Implementation. Geraldine Ostrove, Library of Congress, Washington, DC, presented an update on RDA from the Library of Congress, noting that implementation would not take place before January 2013, subject to some clarifications and changes being made. Those cataloguers who had been involved in creating examples for the RDA testing period would continue to catalogue using RDA thus creating a body of records already using the new standard.

Joseph Hafner, McGill University, Montreal, presented on Canada's progress with RDA Implementation, which involves working to translate RDA into French, which is a collaboration between Library Archives Canada, ASTED, BAnQ and the BnF.

He also presented an update from Jay Weitz, OCLC, on OCLC's plans which included information about RDA in both tools like Connexion and in a new commission to be formed to review how to handle legacy records in WorldCat.

Massimo Gentili-Tedeschi, Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense, Milan, gave an RDA outsider's response to the efforts of RDA from the perspective of his deep involvement in the recent revision of the Italian cataloguing code.

In the second paper, Andrew MacEwan, British Library, Boston Spa, gave an overview of ISNI: The International Standard Name Identifier. He outlined the history of the identifier, the principal partners, which include the British Library, and future prospects. ISNI, in combination with VIAF: the Virtual International Authority File project has the capacity to solve many of the name authority problems between libraries and other users of arty identification data with a single identifier to cover all variant forms. …
