The Working Group on Access to Music Archives (AMA) had three sessions in Dublin. One working session, a special joint session between AMA and RISM, and a third joint session between the two working groups Access to Music Archives and Programme Ephemera.

At the working session we went through the work done over the last three years. The aims and goals of the AMA were listed and in the light of that we summarized what we had accomplished and worked with the last year. The Advisory function resulted in an Archive School on the AMA' 'homepage'. We also made an Archives Brochure which was something members in the group said they needed when informing about the project.

A round table showed the news from different countries. We have already a database (DB) structure with fields and style guides. We tried to mount a DB on IAML's homepage but ran into difficulties. The database is now put up in Spain, registering Spanish music archives. But it needs funding for the administration if more countries are to be involved.

We have been looking into the possibility to join forces with others. Here we have just started to explore Europeana and the Archives Portal Europe (the so-called APEnet project), they are both big projects and are being sponsored by the EU under the eContentplus programme.

Joining forces with other groups in IAML is also a possibility and we have discussed cooperatation with the Working Group on Programme Ephemera and exploring the possibility to open up Cecilia so foreign music archives can be registered there.

The problem with names both of institutions and concert venues was discussed and the registration of this needs to be developed. Theatres change names, sometimes many times. …
