To encourage more extensive and intensive research in North Carolina's historical and cultural resources, the North Caroliniana Society offers on a competitive basis the Archie K. Davis Fellowships to assist scholars in gaining access to collections. Modest stipends vary and are intended to cover a portion of travel expenses while fellows conduct research in North Caroliniana. Clark Atlanta University announces a call for papers for "W. E. B. Du Bois and the Wings of Atlanta," a commemorative conference to be held February 20-23, 2013, that will engage in an interdisciplinary and international introspection of the life, scholarship, and activism of W. E. B. Du Bois. Panels will highlight Du Bois's countless contributions, especially those produced in the twenty-three years of his tenure at Atlanta University. The conference also seeks to explore themes in Du Bois's publications and papers that illuminate his experiences at Fisk University, Harvard University, University of Berlin, and Atlanta University and in Philadelphia, Massachusetts, New York, Chicago, Ghana, and other places where Du Bois lived and worked. …
