The deep reservoir of optimism Americans have about their personal lives shines through in recent polls. Seventy-eight percent are optimistic about what 2012 will bring for them. Three-quarters say they are happy. Sixty percent say the financial condition of their household is good, but two-thirds in another survey say they are very (31 percent) or somewhat (36 percent) worried about being able to maintain their current standard of living.
