AS I REVIEWED THIS BOOK, I found myself wishing I had discovered the first edition during my doctoral education, or in the early years of my career as a nurse educator. Keating has produced a significant resource for graduate students and educators in all types of nursing programs, as well as nurses in staff development and patient education. The agonies of curriculum committee could have been averted.

Curriculum Development and Evaluation in Nursing thoroughly reviews the origins of nursing education in the United States and explores the complexities of the curriculum process, from its theoretical and philosophical underpinnings to the often-overlooked formative and summative evaluations. As we review the past and prepare for the challenges of 21st century nursing education, we see how far nursing education has come.
