Project Highlights

* The project achieved LEED Gold Certification.

* Two common themes were sustainable design and historic preservation.

* Restoration emphasized its detailed brickwork, large arched window openings, and 175-foot tall smokestack.

* No new brick was required since dismantled units were cleaned, sorted and reinstalled.

* Water use reduction was 70% over baseline case, largely due to reuse of rainwater within the plant.

* Energy savings was 33% over baseline case.

* Reused nearly 90% of the existing building structure and envelope.

* More than 85% of the construction and demolition waste from the landfill was diverted.

* Project cost: $18,900,000

* Size: 6,341 sq ft
