This multilayered book begins with the question "Who Am I?" and then takes the reader through levels of humanity, from the most encompassing awareness of being part of the human race to the individual human life cycle.

Chapter One is entitled "I AM HUMAN: How my brain works and makes me unique", and deals with self-awareness, the brain, learning, thinking, and dreaming. This segues into the second chapter entitled "I AM MY FAMILY: How my DNA identifies me and reveals my relationships" and discusses heredity and evolution. The emotions, means of communication, and relations to others in society are the main themes of Chapter Three "I AM MORE THAN MYSELF: How others see me and how we interact." A description of emotions and expressions takes place in this section.

The section entitled "Female or Male" raises questions that are not answered in this very brief area. Chapter Four is "I AM MY BODY: How I grow, develop, and age" and takes the reader all the way from birth and growth to old age. …
