The AJSI is now working fully under the auspices of the Australian Social Policy Association and we have two new developments to report. First, over the last few months we have been working to expand the editorial team to include a group of Associate Editors with special expertise in a range of the topic areas which are figuring frequently in the papers submitted to the journal for publication. The AEs have the role of suggesting suitable referees for papers in their areas of expertise, reviewing and synthesising referee reports, and providing initial recommendations to the editors based on these reports. We hope that having this expanded team will not only speed up the process of responding to submitted papers by sharing the workload, but also further the aims of raising the standard of publication through this additional specialist expertise.

We are pleased to introduce to readers the first four AEs now working with the AJSI: Dr Myra Hamilton, from the Social Policy Research Centre at UNSW, Dr Kelly Richards from the Crime and Justice Research Centre at Queensland University of Technology, Dr Cameron Parsell from the Institute for Social Science Research at the University of Queensland, and Associate Professor Peter Smith from the Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health at Monash University. …
