The Life Science Lawyer is a collection of interviews with individuals from various scientific fields who obtained a law degree after they earned a degree in the life sciences. The range of professional life science degrees included pharmacy, nursing, veterinary, medical technology, dentistry, and medicine. The author also included individuals with PhDs from a variety of areas such as chemistry, biology, environmental science, virology, and neuroscience.

The book is structured so each chapter is the story of the individual's background presented in an interview format. It describes the individuals' educational accomplishments and their employment history up to the time of the interview. The remainder of the chapter is the individual's responses to a series of standard questions concerning their choices on educational experiences and their reflections on those choices. One of the standard questions the author asked is why they chose the particular life science field they pursued. The author also questioned the interviewees on why they developed an interested in studying law. The answers were as diverse as each person's background. The majority of the interviewees ended up practicing law in 1 of 3 areas: patent law, malpractice, or corporate; or they were faculty members in their areas of life science. …
