INTRODUCTION

Globalization, cross-cultural influences confusion and conflicting ideas about foreign-made goods, pose challenges for the society. The challenges range from social, economic, academic, psychological, vocational, political to religious aspects. In the bid to resolve the problems, social development crises occur. In the spirit of government development through National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (NEEDS), the achievement of millennium development goals and related unholistic actualization of the youth development, childcare assistance is required. Childcare centre becomes a sine-qua-non. Warash, B., Markstoon T. and Lucci B. (2005) observed that school and education authorities in contemporary Nigeria have a great responsibility to moulding, shaping, orientating the Nigerian young stars to the needs and responsibilities at their time. The society comprises of children, youths, adults men and women. Children develop into youths and youths into adults. A successful human development should include infants and children that is why this paper focuses on the importance of early childcare centres to the development of the individual. This is because it is a major link for successful youth into adult development for the realization of societal goals.

Childcare centre has been viewed by different researchers. Amato, (2000) Atonuai (1990) and Undiyaundeye (2012) see childcare centre as highlighting, a social network provided for children and infants meant for developing insight into possible ways of identifying and solving identified developmental problems of children and making them into useful adjustment procedure for society. Canada (2001) looks at childcare centre as a product of deliberate efforts made by individual or particular group to help infants and children live well, cope better in the absence of parents and in this process has a drill on skills to achieve positive progress in development task. The individual whether infant, children, adults or aged develop and interact with their environment to acquire a successful developmental task at each stage of growth. This environment comprises of social, physical and psychological inputs within the interaction processes. Some variables in the environment present consistent challenges. Some of these challenges can be resolved on their own while others cannot be solved with a specialized procedure. Okoye, Adeyemo and Achebe (2000) and Spear (2000) meted that human existence is beset with issues, they further stated that problem solving is not an easy task, since some issues are beyond the individual and personal range. They require special tendering by caregivers to transplant appropriate virtues for the consumption of societal standards.

Human development involves situation where the individual is able to actualize his or her potentials and natural endowment positively and adequately too. Ukeje (2000) and Undiyaundeye (2012) noted that human resource development is the process of building the knowledge, skills, attitudes, working abilities, attributes and innate capacities of individuals in the society. Nature has endowed the individuals with various traits uniquely attached to everyone, which if not harnessed or ploughed rightly may be negatively used. In the daycare centres there is a social interaction that exist between the child, the teacher and caregiver as well as the child and classmates or associates. This environment is different from the home and it requires a skill to rear the children to adoption level. The reason behind these special skills is because the background comprises of strange personalities who don't have family relationship or familiar disposition with the children. The process of leading the children to a smooth interaction greets him with new knowledge acquisition and clarification of required developmental task. This study revolve round the training a child receive from parents and care givers at the child care centre and that help the child to interact with pears and society for positive growth. …
