At the IAML conference in Vienna we had two working meetings in the AMA working group. A lot of things were discussed and here is a summary.

Guidelines are ready for the input of information in the new RISM/C directory which will have added information about archival holdings. The guidelines are based on the international standard ISDIAH. We will give facts about each institution, bibliographic information and add a list of single archives in the holdings of the institution. A few comments were made--we need to decide about the compulsory fields and also have a few fields in two languages. We shall avoid inputting information that often changes.

The number of institutions registered will increase since music archives are not only found in the holdings of the institutions that we find at present in RISM/C, but many more. We will use RISM siglas but also ISIL codes, the International Standard Identifier for Libraries and Related Organizations.

We will start with the countries in Europe since there is already a directory of them in an electronic format. It exists in the form of a database and the right to use the data has been bought from Barenreiter. We hope that the RISM office can help us to convert and input the data. If we include many archives from the period after 1850, RISM may feel that the scope is too broad. …
