Article excerpt

ScienceWeb is coming! At CONASTA in Melbourne, we will be launching this exciting new resource linked to the ASTA Portal. It consists of fifteen Units of Work for Science in Years F-10 and linked to the Australian Curriculum. These units have been written by a team of writers under the leadership of Debra Smith and assembled by ASTA's Project Office Delese Brewster. Each unit consists of an overview and five lessons, with materials and equipment data, Safety sheets, and a range of digital resources. Extra work for gifted and talented students will also be provided for some units in the Middle Years. Al! the digital resources in the ScienceWeb Units are freely available online, either in the public domain or through the National Digital Learning Resources Network (which most teachers access via Scootle). A series of webinars on the ASTA Portal in July and August will introduce the units and give teachers the opportunity to share ideas and discuss the content with members of the writing team. Interactive forums where teachers can continue the conversation and receive updates will also be available. It is hoped that the ScienceWeb resources will be available in early June, but watch out for the official launch at CONASTA and stay tuned to the ASTARIX email list and the ASTA social media channels for regular updates. …
