The Southern Historical Association will hold its eightieth annual meeting in Atlanta on November 13-16, 2014, Thursday through Sunday. The printed program will be mailed to members later this month, but it is already accessible on the SHA website along with other information about the meeting. The headquarters hotel will be the Hilton Atlanta; reservations can be made through the link on the SHA website under "Meeting Dates/Sites" (sha.uga.edu/ meeting). The Local Arrangements Committee, chaired by Glenn T. Eskew, has organized several walking tours and off-site functions during the meeting, which are described on the SHA website.

Graduate students attending this year's meeting in Atlanta are encouraged to attend the tenth annual luncheon given in their behalf and sponsored by the John and LaWanda Cox Fund, at noon on Friday, November 14. The luncheon is free to students registered for the meeting, but spouses, children, and other companions cannot be accommodated. Rather than being reserved in advance, tickets will be distributed to the first hundred students requesting them when they register on-site.

All graduate students and junior faculty members (within three years of completion of their doctorates) who are presenting papers at this year's meeting are encouraged to submit their papers for consideration for the William F. Holmes Award for the best paper given at the annual meeting. They should submit three hard copies of the paper, in the form in which it is to be delivered at the meeting, to the SHA office by September 15, 2014, in order to be considered. This year's award committee consists of Douglas Egerton, LeMoyne College, chair; Christine E. Sears, University of Alabama in Huntsville; and Amy Louise Wood, Illinois State University. See the SHA website for further guidelines for submission (sha.uga.edu/awards/holmes.htm).

The 2015 Program Committee, chaired by Anthony E. Kaye, Pennsylvania State University, has issued a call for papers for the eighty-first annual meeting, which will be held in Little Rock, Arkansas, on November 12-15, 2015. All submissions should be made electronically through the SHA website. The deadline for submissions is September 15, 2014. …
