In 2014 STANSW concluded a long process of constitutional review which culminated in the presentation and acceptance of a new constitution at the May AGM. This has resulted in a reduction of the council size from 18 to 8 elected representatives including an executive council of three: Maree Woods (President), Shirley Casper (Vice President) and Jim Sturgiss (Treasurer). Together with our newly appointed Professional Officer, Beth Rohrlach, STANSW council will move towards a governance council, rather than a generally administrative council.

Our subject days continue in 2015 with new programs and new themes. The combined Biology, Earth and Senior Science day as well as the Chemistry day will again be hosted by our major sponsor the University of NSW (UNSW). Our most popular event, Meet the Markers, will also this year be hosted by UNSW who, along with STANSW patron Professor Merlin Crossley, Dean of Science UNSW, are keen supporters of science education in NSW. The Physics day, to be held at the SHORE school, will this year be a joint collaboration between STANSW and the Australian Institute of Physics who have also entered into a new sponsorship arrangement with STANSW.

STANSW's Young Scientist (YS) competition continues to attract a large number of entries and, as the only regional competition outside of the US that is affiliated with ISEF, is able to enter high achieving students into both the BHP Billiton, ISEF and Broadcom Foundation events. …
