Cataloguing Commission: Sub-Commission on ISBD and Music

Article excerpt

At the conference, the IAML ISBD and music Sub-commission met twice, Monday, 14 July and, jointly with the UNIMARC Sub-commission, Thursday, 17 July.

** the alignment between the ISBD and FRBR namespaces, which will have an impact on the ISBD revision process, in that a possible "FRBR-ised" version of the ISBD has been envisaged; a mapping with UNIMARC is also ongoing;

** the implementation of an unconstrained namespace for ISBD, almost ready for publication; the unconstrained namespace is distinguished from the constrained namespace by the simple inclusion of a subdirectory "/unc", but does not include the domain Resource in order to make it possible the use of ISBD data by other communities;

** the preparation of guidelines for the use of ISBD as linked data (to be revised at the IFLA conference in August 2014 and then published);

** the preparation of guidelines for the translation of the ISBD namespaces. …
