It was really a busy week in Antwerp. We had two sessions planning our future work, which is aiming at an international registration of music archives. It is important to keep track of the music archives--where are they kept and what contents do they have?--and we are convinced that researchers in musicology will benefit from this project.

After a period with big plans for this truly international project, we found that people working at cultural institutions have too little time to contribute to big projects due to financial cut backs. We have therefore chosen to start in another end, namely by updating the directory of research libraries, RISM series C. First we need to get the information about single institutions that are listed in this directory up-to-date. To do so, we need to cooperate both with RISM and with national IAML branches. The new directory will, of course, be online and we think it will be a very useful tool with facts about each institution and a links to websites.

Of course we will add information about the archival holdings and provide links to single archives. To begin with there may just be overviews of the holdings. It depends on how each country chooses to do the update and what resources they have. …
