Editor's farewell: The announcement of Deborah Campana's appointment as Notes editor signifies the end of my five-year term as editor of this distinguished journal. When Dan Zager, chair of the Notes editor search committee in 2010, informed me that I had been selected as the new Notes editor, he advised that it would be one of the most gratifying roles I would find within MLA. Having already served the organization as president, I was skeptical, as that job was, yes, demanding, but also quite rewarding. And frankly I had never imagined myself as Notes editor, but here I am, having concluded my five-year term.

Once I locked in on the difference between en dashes, hyphens, and em dashes, I found that, as with other roles in MLA, the satisfaction comes from working with gifted colleagues who generously give of their time and expertise, in this case for the excellence of its premier journal Notes. So, my deepest gratitude goes to our team of assistant editors and column editors and compilers: assistant editors Michael Fling and Laura Stokes; book review editor Liza Vick; music review editor Keith Cochran; digital media review column editor Steve Henry; books received column editors Matt Ertz and James Procell; music received column editor David (Jack) Knapp; new periodicals column editor Lindsay Hansen; video review column editor Leslie Andersen; compiler of annual music price index Kerri Baunach; advertising manager Anne Shelley (who also just concluded her term in this role, and will soon take over as assistant editor for electronic royalties), and Marty Jenkins, who compiles the annual index to the journal. …
