It Is with Great Pleasure That I Begin My Term as Editor of Notes

It is with great pleasure that I begin my term as editor of Notes. I am happy to take on this fascinating responsibility, yet awed by all that has gone on before my time. Jane Gottlieb, my predecessor, has eased the transition by answering e-mails in a flash, slicing to the core of any concern, and resolving the thorniest problems with grace. When I was lucky enough to pay her a visit in May for our orientation session, she devoted several days to my training--all while there was that unacknowledged elephant in the room. The International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) conference was about to take place not only in her city, but in her Juilliard home one month later.

The Music Library Association as the United States Branch of IAML hosted with our sister organization, the International Musicological Society (IMS), "Music Research in the Digital Age" (#IAML2015), a conference which attracted hundreds of music librarians and musicologists from all over the globe for a week (21-26 June) of paper and panel sessions, tours, concerts, and social events. Thanks for a remarkable week go to co-chairs of the organizing committee, Jane Gottlieb; Barbara Mackenzie (president of IAML and editor-in-chief of RILM); and Jim Cassaro (University of Pittsburgh and incoming editor of Fontes Artis Musicae, IAML's journal). …
