As of 30 April 2015, the IAML Japan branch has 74 members, of which 56 are individuals and 18 institutions.

At the General Meeting on Sunday, 8 June 2014, the new members of the National Committee 2014 to 2016 were announced.

President: Tsuneko ARAKAWA (Professor emerita, Yamanashi University)

Vice-president: Shu-Ji LIN (Tokyo)

Secretary: Yumiko HASEGAWA (former librarian, Kunitachi Music College)

Treasurer: Yoko Ogura (Tokyo University of the Arts)

Members at Large: Ryota 1NABA, Tatsuhiko 1TOH, Hiroko KISH1MOTO, Kiichiro KANA1, Midori SATOH

Two regular meetings were held since the last General Meeting. At the 56th meeting, held on 8 June 2014 after the General Meeting at the Tokyo Geijutsu Gekijyo, two speakers gave presentations about the Music Museum. Mr. Shigeyuki Kozuma (Min'on Music Museum) gave a talk on the history and topics of the last ten years at the Min'on Music Museum, discussing its progress from music library to music museum, followed by the report on displaying popular music: a comparative study on small-scale museums in the US and Japan by Prof. Harumichi YAMADA (Professor of Tokyo Keizai University).

At the 57th Meeting, held on 29 November 2014 in the library of Tokyo Music College, Prof Hiroko KISHIMOTO (Professor of Showa Ongaku College) gave a report on music materials and Japanese public libraries. IAML, Japan, does not have many interactions with the public libraries until now. But this topic has aroused young librarians and students of library science to discuss the situation surrounding music materials in public libraries and libraries in music teaching institutions. The committee is now preparing for the next meeting, scheduled on Saturday, 6 June 2015, to discuss the role and activities of IAML, Japan, to encourage members of young generation to put their concern and ideas into action. …
