This book is about two underage Australian soldiers, Taz and Frankie, and an underage German soldier, Richard, who is drafted into a tank regiment. It chronicles the adventures of the soldiers during World War 1 as the Australian and German troops fight. The reader can see the two points of view come together and eventually merge. The reader can also witness the first moments of the original tanks and see how they were used and how frightening they were for people who had not seen them before. I was captivated by these hulking machines of iron and death.

It was interesting reading about the tanks in action and how they were before they were completely modernised. It was also interesting to see how the main characters get closer and a confrontation was in the making. This expectation of the meeting drove the story and made you want to read on. …
