Don't let the word "maker" in the title of this book throw you off. While you won't find tinkering or tech-based activities in this book, you will find many standard introductory science experiments: slime, invisible ink, paper airplanes, erupting volcano, and jungle in a bottle.

Maker Lab invites students to explore science with everyday materials. The book includes photographs of everything you need to run your experiment: supplies, step-by-step instructions, and even a time and difficulty rating. At the end of each experiment is a "how it works" section, and a few experiments even include a real-world science application section.

This book is written for students. A glossary in the back and a focus on safety precautions help students feel confident and knowledgeable when performing each experiment. While I found the book to be inviting for students who are just starting out in their exploration of science, it may not be as useful for teachers. …
