Welcome to the June edition of AJLL. The issue comprises a variety of articles that report on national and international literacy research.

The first paper, 'Indigenous Children's Multimodal Communication of Emotions through Visual Imagery' by Kathy Mills, Alberto Bellocchi, Roger Patulny and Jane Dooley, explores the multimodal language of emotions. It reports on a study that conducted a series of digital imagery workshops with upper primary Indigenous students. The second paper, 'Teachers' selection of texts for Pasifika Students in New Zealand Primary Schools' by Rebecca Jesson and Judy Parr reports on a study which aimed to understand how teachers select texts for Pasifika students who are a group of students at risk of underachieving nationally. The study found that teachers draw on interactions between their knowledge of texts, their knowledge of students and curricular goals. The third paper, 'IRE and content area literacies: A critical analysis of classroom discourse' by Lesley Friend, reports on a project that explored ways of engaging students in the content area of science in the secondary school. …
