The Science Teacher (TST) is seeking manuscripts that describe new and creative ideas for the secondary science classroom. Manuscripts should provide worthwhile ideas and practical help for teachers as they relate to the themes listed below. TST also always encourages manuscripts outside of the listed themes.

History and Nature of Science

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: March 1, 2015

The history of science is filled with fascinating stories and events that can help make science come alive for students. TST is currently seeking manuscripts that describe activities and teaching strategies that use the rich history of science to promote interest, provide historical context, and develop deep understanding of the nature of science. Manuscripts are being solicited in the following areas:

* Nature of science

* History of science

* Connecting the nature of science and the Next Generation Science Standards.

* Science as a human endeavor

* Women in science

* Contributions of scientists from traditionally underrepresented groups

* Science, society and technological change

Citizen Science

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: April 1, 2015

Digital media have given citizens access to scientific data sets and the ability to participate in genuine scientific research that was previously unthinkable. Volunteers from around the world now contribute valuable data, aid in the analysis of these data, and work with scientists to design new projects. Have you found ways to allow your students to become "citizen scientists?" If so, please share them with TST readers.
