The Wordsworth-Coleridge Association

Article excerpt

The papers by Peter Manning, Quentin Bailey, and Toby Benis that open this spring, 2017, issue of The Wordsworth Circle were delivered at the winter meeting of the Wordsworth-Coleridge Association in Philadelphia, January 5, 2017, during the MLA convention. They responded to a CFP called "Migration and Domesticity," described in I WC, 47:4 (Winter, 2017) 47-51. However, looking over the past nearly fifty years of The Wordsworth Circle, and the many books reviewed, 1 realized that they have always been a theme in the journal: "migration" (the writers, artists, tourists, refugees) and "domesticity" (the places, settings, abstractions) are as relevant to how Romanticists live and what they do as to the fictions, art, music, and images they study. The topic survives and I hope these essays will inspire more contributions.

The 2018 meeting of the Wordsworth-Coleridge Association will take place during the MLA annual convention in New York City from January 4-7. We are fortunate to have been granted two sessions along with the annual festive lunch, times and places for both the sessions and the lunch to be announced in July. The essays will appear in the spring issue, 2018. More contributions are welcome. …
