Forces and Magnets is part of the Moving Up With Science informational series. The books all have large print, with appropriate straightforward language and vocabulary for the upper elementary student. Each has 32 colorful pages with excellent pictures, lots of labels and explanation boxes including clear and concise directions for several exciting experiments and activities. Each book has a table of contents, bold words connected to a glossary, and an index. This series would be useful for teachers working on nonfiction text features. There are also highlighted questions to capture the reader's interest with answers in the back.

Forces and Magnets starts out by introducing the reader to what constitutes a force, including pushing, pulling, twisting, and turning. Then, gravity comes into the story and the concepts start to get more complex.

Interesting questions on each page encourage the reader to try something that explores the page's topic. …
