Conference Helps Sixth Grade Students Xplor Document Management

Xplor's 19th Global Electronic Document Systems Conference & Exhibit held recently in Nashville, Tenn. hosted several thousand industry professions from 44 countries, along with a special workshop for 15 sixth grade students. The Xplor Joint Technology Council, which includes companies like Adobe Systems, Inc., Danka/Kodak, Hewlett-Packard Company, IBM Printing Systems Company and Xerox Corporation, held sessions focusing on the theme, "Using Documents to Manage Knowledge." Several trends like digital printing, color, quality control and electronic bill presentment and payment were emphasized in several workshops, one of which involved sixth grade students from Glenn Middle School in Nashville.

"The Future of Reading and Writing in a Digital Age" featured an interactive lesson on electronic documents, allowing the kids to engage in activities like sending a letter to the President of the United States via the United States Postal Service's new Post Office Online. "On the computers at school, I learned how to do more math and increase my reading ability," said Glenn Middle School 6th grader Krystal Fields. …
