Comdisco, Inc. announced an agreement with Tandy/Radio Shack to offer a warranty program for their used PCs being sold to the education market. The program protects equipment for up to two years after the purchase, enabling school administrators in elementary and high schools around the country to procure high-quality, fully functional, warranted computers at reasonable prices. Students at the Sun Area Career and Technology Center in New Berlin, Penn. have demonstrated their 21st century skills by building and installing a new office computer for Governor Ridge. Both the Governor and Lt. Governor received Pentium II, 350 MHz multimedia computers that were built by high school students. The students were taught these skills through a program implemented by a state grant and later supplemented by a donation from Intel. wwv.intel.com

The multiple award-winning math TV series, The Eddie Fries, is an unusual combination of storytelling, documentary and a real teacher. The central character, 11-year-old Eddie, interacts with everyone in the series but is never seen on screen. Guests on the series include personalities like Weird Al Yankovic and Jerry Stiller, as well as people like forest rangers, baseball scorekeepers and engineers.
