The IRI Achievement Award, established in 1973, is presented to honor outstanding accomplishment in individual innovation that contributes to the development of industry and the benefit of society. The Achievement Award, a bronze sculpture representing the flight of imagination in achieving technological innovation is presented at IRI's Annual Conference. In 2018, the IRI Board awarded the IRI Achievement Award to Tan Le.

The 2018 IRI Achievement Award was presented to Tan Le for her work developing portable, user-friendly electroencephalography technology to advance the understanding of the human brain; in recognition of her contributions to the field of bioinformatics; for her work as an innovation leader; and for her tireless effort to bring new technological advances to humankind.

Tan Le is the founder and CEO of EMOTIV, a neuroinformatics company advancing understanding of the human brain using electroencephalography (EEG).
