New Research Director at NLN

Theresa M. Valiga, EdD, RN, has joined NLN as Director of Research and a member of the Senior Management Team. She has served NLN as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee and the Blue Ribbon Panel for Priorities in Nursing Education Research. In June, she was awarded the NLN's 1999 Isabel Stewart Award, which honors a nurse educator who is both a mentor for junior faculty and a creative and inspirational teacher for students from diverse backgrounds.

In announcing Dr. Valiga's appointment, Dr. Ruth Corcoran, CEO, pointed to NLN's unique repository of historical nursing education research. According to Dr. Corcoran, "NLN will continue to build upon this resource as the transformation of nursing unfolds in the years ahead."

Dr. Valiga earned her graduate degrees at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her preparation in nursing education emphasized teaching at the baccalaureate level, with specialization at the doctoral level in curriculum and instruction. Most recently, Dr. Valiga was dean of the School of Nursing at Fairfield University, Fairfield, Connecticut. …
