Three Authors Win Yancey Memorial Award

Ian Gallacher, Bruce R. Parker and Donald L. DeVries, all of the Baltimore firm of Goodell, DeVries, Leech & Gray, LLP, have won the Yancey Memorial Award for the best article published in Defense Counsel Journal during 1997. The award was announced at the IADC 1998 annual meeting at the Sheraton-Grande Torrey Pines Hotel in La Jolla, California.

The winning article, "Back to the Future? Product Liability Class Actions and Proposed Rule 23 Changes," appeared in the April 1997 issue of Defense Counsel Journal, page 195.

The Yancey Memorial Award, instituted in 1963, honors George W. Yancey, who was the 1932-34 president of the International Association of Insurance Counsel, later to become the International Association of Defense Counsel, and he also was the founder of Insurance Counsel Journal, now Defense Counsel Journal. It is awarded by an IADC judging committee to the author or authors of the most outstanding article published in the Journal during the preceding year.
